David among the "30 in their 30's" invited to participate in the annual Valentia Transatlantic Cable Foundation lectures.

July 22, 2025

David was among a number of early career academics, politicians and entrepreneurs who participated in panel discussions on the subject of Ireland's place in the world in 2040.  The discussions were wide-ranging and often examined the role that AI and social media played in daily life — examining both the challenges opportunities. Following an excellent Plenary Lecture by Jane Ohlmeyer on the impact of Ireland and the Irish throughout the modern and early modern history, David spoke alongside entrepreneur Lara Pairceir and James Atkinson, the Stakeholder Engagement & Change Manager at EirGrid.

The Valentia Transatlantic Cable Foundation was established to assist the Valentia Island Development Company with fundraising for the Transatlantic Cable UNESCO World Heritage Designation project.  The foundation’s goal is to secure the required support and funding by raising the profile of the project at national and international level while engaging with state funding opportunities and private donors. The next Valentia Lecture will take place in Summer 2026.

Thanks to Leonard Hobbs (Chairperson of the Foundation, Intel Ireland) and the other members of the Foundation for the invitation to participate.
